The impeachment articles accuse Trump of tyrannical overreach, obstruction of justice, misuse of executive power and the violation of Americans’ First Amendment rights.
US Congressman Shri Thanedar has introduced seven articles of impeachment against former President Donald Trump, accusing him of “endangering our democracy.” The charges include tyrannical overreach, obstruction of justice, and violating Americans’ First Amendment rights. Thanedar stated on X, “When Trump disregards the Constitution, Congress, and the courts, he is not ‘fighting for America’… he is tearing it down.”
The impeachment effort is unlikely to succeed, as Republicans hold majorities in both the House and Senate until at least 2026. A House majority is required to advance the case to a Senate trial. Trump, impeached twice during his presidency—over investigation obstruction and the January 6 Capitol riot—would face removal if convicted. Legal experts call the latest move symbolic given the political landscape.
