LONDON — Prince Andrew allegedly slept with “more than a dozen women” in the first 12 months of his marriage to Sarah Ferguson, according to explosive new claims in a biography by Andrew Lownie.

The book, The Rise and Fall of the House of York, cites a former driver as the source of the revelations. It also alleges that Ferguson, hurt by Andrew’s frequent absences in the navy, pursued her own affairs.

Lownie quotes sources describing the couple’s marriage as marred by “vicious arguments” that “bordered on domestic violence.” Ferguson reportedly confided: “I’m married to a man who has never been inside a supermarket.”

The biography has renewed debate within palace circles. The Daily Telegraph reports that Prince William “understands the reputational threat his uncle poses” and may support stripping Andrew of his princely title.

Andrew and Ferguson divorced in 1996 but continue living together at Royal Lodge.
