Renaming bus stop is a lot petty because those are not the things we should be talking about right now. What our priority should be is the 2027 election. Will our vote count?
Veteran musician and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has criticised the recent renaming of the Charly Boy Bus Stop in Gbagada, Lagos, describing the action as “petty” and misplaced.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, Charly Boy urged Nigerians to channel their attention towards the 2027 general elections, which he said should be a national priority.
He said, “A lot more petty because those are not the things we should be talking about right now. What our priority should be is the 2027 election. Will our vote count?”
Charly Boy explained that the bus stop was named after him in the early 1990s in recognition of his contributions to the Gbagada community, including scholarships and support for residents. The Bariga LCDA recently renamed the bus stop after rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as ‘Baddo’.
