President Trump accused six Democratic lawmakers of “seditious behavior” after they released a video urging military personnel to refuse illegal orders.
President Donald Trump on Thursday accused six Democratic lawmakers of engaging in “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” after they posted a video urging members of the military and intelligence community to “refuse illegal orders,” according to a report from Mediaite.
The video, shared by Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), featured Slotkin, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), and Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO), Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), and Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), all of whom are veterans of the military or intelligence community. “We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community. The American people need you to stand up for our laws and our Constitution. Don’t give up the ship,” Slotkin wrote.
As a group, the lawmakers argued that “This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens.” They added, “You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders… We have your back,” concluding with “Don’t give up the ship.”
Trump responded by reposting an article about the video along with his own comments: “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL… An example MUST BE SET.” He followed with additional posts declaring, “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???” and “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”
