Explosions were heard in Doha after Israel announced it had struck senior Hamas leaders. Details of casualties remain unclear.
Explosions were reported in Doha on Tuesday shortly after Israel announced a strike on Hamas leaders. Black smoke was seen rising in the Qatari capital, though casualties remain unconfirmed.
“The IDF and ISA conducted a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organisation,” the Israeli military said, accusing them of orchestrating the October 7 attacks and ongoing war efforts.
An Israeli official told the Associated Press the strike occurred in Doha, home to exiled Hamas leaders and a key mediator in Gaza ceasefire negotiations.
Qatar condemned the attack as a “cowardly Israeli attack” and a “flagrant violation of international law,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich praised the move, writing on X: “Terrorists have no immunity from Israel’s long arm anywhere in the world.”
The strike is expected to complicate ongoing hostage-release and ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas.
