Baladna says no agreement was reached with Ogun government, despite official claims of a dairy investment.
Qatari dairy giant Baladna has denied claims by the Ogun State Government that it agreed to build a multi-million dollar dairy factory in the state.
Following reports of a potential investment, Baladna told The Guardian that “there are no agreements or announced projects” with Ogun, clarifying the visit was “purely exploratory.”
Governor Dapo Abiodun had earlier posted photos of Baladna officials on social media, describing the visit as the beginning of a major investment.
In a statement, Baladna said as a publicly listed company, it must follow regulatory procedures and no announcement can be made without formal approval.
The company added, “No press release or public statement regarding any potential investment… may be issued… without our prior consent.”
Governor Abiodun’s spokesperson later clarified there was no signed deal. “They came to explore opportunities,” said media aide Kayode Akinmade, insisting the state only showcased its strengths during the visit.
