Qatar’s prime minister said Israel’s strike on Doha has shattered hopes for a Gaza ceasefire and the survival of hostages.

Qatari prime minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani has said Israel’s strike on Doha “killed any hope” for hostages remaining in Gaza. Al-Thani stated he could not predict how Hamas might have responded to the latest US ceasefire principles if the attack had not taken place.

The prime minister warned that both Israel and Hamas “are going to run out of chances” to secure a truce, stressing the urgency of negotiations. “I was meeting one of the hostages families the morning of the attack,” Al-Thani revealed. “They are counting on this (ceasefire) mediation, they have no other hope for that.”

Al-Thani added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to strike Doha undermined mediation efforts. “I think that what Netanyahu has done yesterday, he just killed any hope for those hostages,” he said.
