US rapper Nicki Minaj will speak at the United Nations alongside Ambassador Mike Waltz on the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, urging global attention and action.
US rapper Nicki Minaj is set to deliver remarks on the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria at the United Nations, according to a report from journalist Eric Cortellessa.
The scheduled appearance comes after Mike Waltz, United States ambassador to the UN, invited Minaj for “an in-depth discussion about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”
Waltz confirmed the report on X, describing Minaj as “not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice.” He added, “I’m grateful she’s leveraging her massive platform to spotlight the atrocities against Christians in Nigeria, and I look forward to standing with her as we discuss the steps the President and his administration are taking to end the persecution of our Christian brothers and sisters.”
Responding, Minaj said she is honored by the invitation, stating, “I do not take it for granted. It means more than you know. The Barbz & I will never stand down in the face of injustice. We’ve been given our influence by God. There must be a bigger purpose.”
The appearance follows Minaj’s recent public support of Donald Trump after he redesignated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” citing allegations of a “Christian genocide” linked to radical Islamist groups.
The Grammy-nominated artist emphasized that no group should face persecution for their faith and urged global attention and prayers for those affected.
