Real Madrid have rejected Vinicius’ demand, as it would constitute a nearly 50% pay increase

Vinicius Junior’s future at Real Madrid is uncertain as contract renewal talks have stalled, with the club refusing to match the Brazilian winger’s salary demands. According to Mundo Deportivo, the 25-year-old currently earns €15 million net per season but is requesting equal pay with Kylian Mbappe, whose full annual compensation reaches €23 million, including an €8 million signing bonus.

Real Madrid have rejected Vinicius’ demand, as it would constitute a nearly 50% pay increase. His underwhelming 2024-25 campaign—scoring only 22 goals in 58 appearances—has contributed to the club’s reluctance.

The current deal runs through 2027, but speculation over a transfer has grown. Spanish outlet SER reports that club president Florentino Perez has already identified Erling Haaland as Vinicius’ possible replacement, aiming to pair the Manchester City striker with Mbappe.

Madrid reportedly see the disparity in performance and consistency as justification for the wage gap, despite Vinicius’ status as a fan favorite and key player in past seasons.
