The unknown gunmen assumed I was in town and attacked my family’s house that night.
Suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has raised the alarm over an armed attack on her family home in Obeiba-Ihima. The assailants, who struck Tuesday night, vandalized the property reportedly belonging to her grandfather, allegedly mistaking her brother’s presence for hers during a constituency project inspection.
Akpoti-Uduaghan confirmed in a statement that “civil defence and community members chased them off,” preventing harm. She disclosed a police report was filed at the area command while demanding the Inspector-General of Police “immediately reinstate my security details.”
The lawmaker urged public calm, stressing her service “shouldn’t be met with violence.” The incident follows her suspension from the Senate, raising concerns about political tensions in Kogi State.
