Ogles claims Mamdani may have concealed ties to terrorism on citizenship form.

Republican Rep. Andy Ogles has called on the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate whether New York State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani misrepresented information on his 2018 naturalization application. Ogles raised concerns over Mamdani’s 2017 rap lyrics that included the line, “Free the Holy Land Five / My guys,” referencing a group convicted in a terrorism financing case.

In a letter to the Attorney General, Ogles claimed the lyrics may reflect “willful misrepresentation or concealment of material support for terrorism” on Form N-400 and recommended potential denaturalization proceedings. He stated, “If an individual publicly glorifies a group convicted of financing terrorism, it is entirely appropriate for federal authorities to inquire whether that individual engaged in non-public forms of support…”

Ogles also referred to Mamdani as “little muhammad” on social media and declared, “If you lied on your N-400 naturalization forms, you’re going home.” Critics have pushed back, arguing that such actions may infringe on First Amendment rights and reflect Islamophobic undertones. Mamdani has not yet responded publicly.
