Benjamin Sesko is set to join Manchester United after rejecting a more lucrative Newcastle bid. The Red Devils have agreed to pay up to €85m to RB Leipzig.
Benjamin Sesko will undergo a medical at Manchester United after the club reached an agreement in principle with RB Leipzig for his transfer, reports The Athletic’s David Ornstein. The deal is worth €76.5 million guaranteed with up to €8.5 million in add-ons.
Newcastle United also had a bid accepted — an initial €82.5 million plus €2.5 million in bonuses — but Sesko chose United despite their lack of Champions League football.
United have already signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, potentially spending £207 million on attackers this summer.
Sesko, 22, has 39 goals and eight assists in 87 appearances for Leipzig. He first caught United’s eye in 2019 while at Domzale, and has since grown into a towering 6-foot-5 striker.
