The House of Representatives has moved to probe the Nigerian Football Federation over alleged mismanagement of $25 million in grants from FIFA and CAF, citing poor accountability and questionable spending.
The House of Representatives on Tuesday resolved to set up a Special Committee to investigate the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) over the alleged mismanagement of $25 million in grants from FIFA and CAF.
This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance co-sponsored by Adedayo Adesola (Lagos) and Felix Nwaeke (Rivers). Adesola said the misuse of football grants had contributed to Nigeria’s recent poor performances.
He cited a 2016 FIFA audit query over the handling of a $1.1m grant, noting that between 2015 and 2025, the NFF received over $25m without visible results.
Adesola also referenced the alleged use of $1.2m for a substandard stadium project in Birnin Kebbi.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas directed the formation of a special investigative committee to examine NFF finances from 2015 to date and summon its leadership to present all receipts and expenditure records.
