The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on the Plateau Crisis says it will soon present its findings on the root causes of the state’s prolonged violence to President Bola Tinubu, after extensive consultations with stakeholders across the region.
According to PEOPLES GAZETTE reporting, the Chairman of the House Ad Hoc Committee on Plateau Crisis, Wale Ahmed (APC–Lagos), has announced that the committee is finalizing a comprehensive report on the root causes of the recurring violence in Plateau State for submission to President Bola Tinubu.
Ahmed disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja during a courtesy visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda. He said the report aims to identify lasting solutions to the crisis that has claimed numerous lives and disrupted livelihoods.
“Every stakeholder we have met has presented their perspectives,” he said. “We have written to over 300 different individuals and organisations. Memoranda have been submitted, and we will collate all recurring complaints and suggested solutions before presenting the report to the House and Mr President.”
Responding, Yilwatda lamented that the violence has crippled socio-economic activities in the state. “We lost a lot—lives, property, and the confidence of the local and international community,” he said, urging the committee to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.
