Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, intervened Thursday, warning Idris: “Should anything happen to anybody, he will be held responsible.”
Residents of Daneji, a crowded community in Kano Municipal, are gripped by fear following the escape of a giant African rock python from the home of former Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris.
The snake reportedly went missing on Sunday, causing panic. “Since the python escaped, everyone has been living in fear,” said local resident Nurulhaq Kabir Muhammad.
Another resident, Rabi’u Isma’il, called the situation “terrifying,” while Aisha Lawal urged government action: “This is not just about the snake, it’s about our safety.”
Kano Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, confirmed Idris was invited for questioning. “We’ve dispatched an intelligence unit to confirm if the animals were surrendered,” he said.
