“I told him I don’t think you really have the capacity to make this peace,”
Former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Monday shared details of a meeting he had with the suspended governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike revealed that Fubara visited him, accompanied by two governors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
During a media briefing in Abuja, Wike refrained from disclosing the full details of the meeting but emphasized that he had bluntly told Fubara he lacked the ability to broker peace. “I told him I don’t think you really have the capacity to make this peace,” Wike said.
The minister explained that Fubara could not claim to be pursuing peace while his allies continued to make inflammatory statements on television.
Wike advised the suspended governor that, beyond meeting with him, he must engage other key stakeholders such as the State Assembly, the Party, and other influential figures if peace is to be achieved.
