Ronaldo says he avoided Diogo Jota’s funeral to prevent attention from shifting away from the late striker.
Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has explained why he didn’t attend the funeral of late Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
Ronaldo and Jota, who were former Portugal teammates, shared a close bond before Jota and his brother Andre Silva died in a car accident in July.
Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the 40-year-old said, “There are two things. People criticise me a lot and I don’t care… One of the things I don’t do after my father died is go to a cemetery. Secondly, you know me and my reputation; wherever I go, it’s a circus.”
He added, “People can continue to criticise me, but I felt good with my decision.”
