Moscow escalated its drone campaign with a record 479 strikes across Ukraine, including the western Rivne region, previously spared major attacks.

Russia launched a record 479 drones at Ukraine overnight, Kyiv said Monday, with strikes hitting ten regions including Rivne in the west, a region previously spared.

“This is the largest attack on the region since the start of the war,” Rivne mayor Oleksandr Tretyak said. Governor Oleksandr Koval reported damage to 70 buildings, including private homes and a nursery.

Moscow said it targeted an airfield near Dubno in a retaliatory strike for a recent Ukrainian attack on Russian military airfields.

Ukraine claimed a counterstrike on a Russian electronics factory in Cheboskary, over 600 kilometres east of Moscow. “Two drones fell on the territory of the VNIIR factory,” Chuvashia Governor Oleg Nikolayev said, confirming production had been suspended.

Ukraine’s army said the site made “antennas for Shahed” drones used by Russia.

Meanwhile, Russia reported one fatality in the border Kursk region, where a Ukrainian strike hit a cultural-service center. “A 64-year-old man was killed,” said acting governor Alexander Khinstein.
