The honour, Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia, was conferred at a special ceremony in Castries.

Saint Lucia has conferred its highest national distinction—the title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL)—on Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following a recommendation by Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre and formal approval by Governor‑General Errol Charles. The investiture took place during a state event at the Governor General’s official residence on June 30, marking the first stop of Tinubu’s Caribbean tour.

In his address to a joint session of Saint Lucia’s Senate and House of Assembly, the Nigerian president affirmed: “My visit to Saint Lucia is in keeping with the ideal of building the bridge between Africa and the Caribbean and creating a pathway to deepen economic ties and foster mutual cooperation.”

He highlighted plans to expand cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education and cultural exchange, alongside “improve consular services for the citizens of both our nations.”

Saint Lucia’s government confirmed a formal diplomatic relationship, a visa waiver arrangement for holders of diplomatic and official passports from OECS member states, and Nigerian scholarship and technical support extended to OECS countries.
