Brennan Johnson’s goal sealed Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has reacted to Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final on Thursday night. Spurs, who had already beaten United three times this season, completed a clean sweep with a narrow victory in Bilbao thanks to Brennan Johnson’s first-half strike.
The win marked Tottenham’s first major trophy in 17 years and secured their place in next season’s Champions League. Manager Ange Postecoglou, who had faced mounting pressure during the campaign, delivered on his promise of silverware in his second season and celebrated his 100th game in charge in style.
Salah, who scored against Spurs in the 2019 Champions League final, referenced Postecoglou’s prior comments in a congratulatory message on X: “He did say he’d win in his second season. Congratulations!”
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher also weighed in, mocking United with a twist on Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous line: “Lads, it’s Man United!”
