Kwankwaso says Sanusi remains the only emir recognised by Kano’s people and government as he warns of rising insecurity in border communities.
Former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Saturday reaffirmed that “Muhammadu Sanusi II is the only emir in Kano who has been recognised by the people and the government of Kano State.” Speaking at the fourth convocation of Skyline University of Nigeria (SUN) in Kano, he said any claimant installed from outside the state lacks legitimacy.
Kwankwaso, the 2023 NNPP presidential candidate, praised the university for its dedication to quality education and congratulated the graduating class, noting that more than 60 percent were female. He urged young men to take their studies seriously to avoid being overtaken by women in national development.
On security, he warned of rising attacks by armed groups crossing from Katsina into communities including Tsanyawa, Shanono, Gwarzo and Karaye. “If government cannot protect lives and properties… then that government must sit down and think again,” he said.
Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, SUN’s chancellor, urged graduates to value education through service, saying: “Knowledge without action is like a lamp without oil.”
