Day of Arafah on June 5 precedes Eid-el-Adha on June 6
The Day of Arafah will fall on Wednesday, June 5, marking the spiritual pinnacle of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. On this day, pilgrims will gather at Mount Arafat to engage in worship and supplication.
Eid-el-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, will be celebrated globally on Thursday, June 6. The holiday commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) unwavering devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah.
Haramain Sharifain, the official platform for the two holy mosques, shared a traditional supplication recited by pilgrims in the state of ihram:
“Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk, Labbayk la sharika laka Labbayk. Innal Hamda, Wannimata, Laka Wal-Mulk, La Sharika Lak.”
(“Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily, all praise, grace, and sovereignty belong to You, and You have no partner.”)
The announcement enables Muslims worldwide to prepare for the sacred period with acts of worship, charity, communal prayers, and livestock sacrifice.
