“This committee never said NNPCL stole the money but is requesting it to account
for it,” Senator Wadada said.
The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has insisted the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) must account for N210 trillion flagged in audit reports from 2017 to 2023.
Committee chairman Senator Aliyu Ahmed Wadada said on Thursday in Abuja that NNPCL Group CEO Engineer Bayo Ojulari must personally appear to address the infractions and other queries.
“It is very disturbing and unacceptable for the GCEO of NNPCL to dishonour this committee’s invitation for his appearance again,” Senator Abdul Ningi said.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole added: “Nobody is bigger than the country… The committee is not appealing but ordering him to appear.”
Ojulari was absent from the hearing, reportedly attending an OPEC meeting in Vienna.
Wadada clarified: “This committee never said NNPCL stole the money but is requesting it to account for it.”
The committee refused to hear the CFO’s presentation and will set a new date for Ojulari to appear.
