Israeli settlers launch arson attacks in West Bank

Dozens of Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian properties in the occupied West Bank, burning lorries, tents, and farmland as settler violence continues to escalate.

According to a report from BBC NEWS, dozens of Israeli settlers carried out arson attacks on Tuesday targeting a Palestinian warehouse, a Bedouin village, and farmland in the northern occupied West Bank, leaving several Palestinians injured. The assaults, which coincided with the olive harvest season, mark a surge in settler violence.

Footage showed masked men torching lorries in Beit Lid and tents in Deir Sharaf. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that troops dispersed the confrontation and arrested several settlers, but said soldiers were later attacked by settlers nearby. Israeli police stated that four suspects were detained.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog condemned the violence as “shocking and serious,” saying it “crosses a red line,” while IDF Central Command head Major-General Avi Bluth warned that such acts “undermine the stability of the security situation.”

The UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that October recorded more than 260 settler attacks—the highest since records began in 2006—resulting in casualties and widespread property damage.

Palestinian Authority Minister Muayyad Shaaban described the attacks as an effort to impose “a hostile environment through intimidation and terror.”
