FUOYE Senate and staff unions are demanding the removal of Pro-Chancellor Victor Ndoma-Egba for allegedly shielding Vice Chancellor Abayomi Fasina in a sexual harassment scandal.
The Senate of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has called for the removal of Pro-Chancellor Victor Ndoma-Egba, accusing him of shielding suspended Vice Chancellor Abayomi Fasina, who was indicted for sexually harassing senior staff member Folasade Adebayo. A press statement circulated within the institution alleged that Ndoma-Egba “intimidated and harassed” Adebayo while rewarding Fasina with N128 million for foreign medical and research leave. It also accused the council of flouting university rules by refusing to suspend Fasina and instead backing him through what the Senate described as “Kigaligate,” a controversial retreat in Rwanda. “This was done without fair hearing as the union leaders were summarily suspended without trial,” the statement read. The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) also petitioned Education Minister Tunji Alausa, demanding Fasina’s suspension, dissolution of the council, and an audit of FUOYE’s finances. However, the council’s spokesperson insisted Fasina is on legitimate research leave abroad.
