An Australian woman has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for setting her longtime friend on fire after he allegedly made a misogynistic comment during a party.

Corbie Jean Walpole, 24, poured gasoline on Jake Loader, 23, and set him alight during a backyard gathering on Jan. 7, 2024, according to ABC News. Loader suffered third-degree burns to 55% of his body and was placed in a coma for eight days.

Walpole had consumed between 23 and 35 drinks and cocaine. Loader reportedly told her to “get back in the kitchen and not to drink with the boys.”

Friends extinguished the flames and dragged Loader into a pool. Walpole reportedly said, “What the f— have I done?” and, “He told me to do it.”

Judge Jennifer English called the attack “unprovoked and violent.”
