Former Senator Shehu Sani has criticized Northern Nigerians for staying silent during Buhari’s administration, citing widespread nepotism and favoritism in federal appointments.
Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has alleged that Northern Nigerians remained silent during Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency due to widespread nepotism and favoritism.
Speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” programme monitored by TRIBUNE ONLINE on Thursday, Sani claimed that many strategic appointments were concentrated in Buhari’s home state of Katsina.
“The DG of SSS, Daura was from Katsina state, the DG of NIA, Rufai was from Katsina state, the MPA, my sister Hadiza, she’s from Katsina state, Director of Federal Mortgage Bank, Katsina state… I can state all of them. All from Katsina state,” he said.
He also cited leadership roles in the military and paramilitary sectors—including Immigration, Customs, Civil Defense, and FRSC—as disproportionately favoring the North.
According to Sani, these appointments went unchallenged because Northerners benefited from the arrangement. He contrasted this with current criticisms from the South under President Tinubu, suggesting Northerners would be equally vocal if roles were reversed.
