“Let him face the full weight of justice for the grievous consequences of his actions…”
Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo sociocultural body, has hailed the Finnish court’s approval of Simon Ekpa’s extradition to Nigeria as a key step toward restoring peace in the South-East.
In a statement signed by Deputy President General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and National Spokesman Chief Thompson Ohia, the group praised federal authorities, including the Chief of Defence Staff and National Security Adviser, for tackling insecurity. Ekpa, accused of terrorizing the region through illegal “sit-at-home” orders, faces trial in July 2025. Ohanaeze condemned him as “a common criminal” and declared:
“The Igbo people harbor no sympathy for Simon Ekpa… At no time has the Igbo community supported his criminal conspiracies or violent acts.”
