Emma Diedrichs, founder of LuxeLittleOne, a diaper bag business in Brisbane, has issued a warning to fellow entrepreneurs after falling victim to a chargeback scam.
In February, a customer who ordered two bags worth $162 initiated a chargeback without contacting the business. Despite confirmed delivery via Australia Post, the bank ruled in the customer’s favor, deducting the amount and a $16 fee from Diedrichs.
“It’s so disheartening for me. I am a single mom, this is my livelihood,” she said. Weeks later, she spotted the same bags listed for resale by the customer on Facebook Marketplace. “This impacts us massively,” Diedrichs added.
She shared her ordeal on TikTok, prompting widespread support from fellow business owners who’ve faced similar scams. “You wouldn’t go to somebody’s workplace and take $162 off them,” she said. Diedrichs is now pursuing further action against the fraudulent buyer.
