The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued six law students of the Yola Campus who were abducted on July 26, 2025 while travelling from Anambra State to Adamawa State .
The students were reportedly kidnapped in the late hours of Saturday, July 26, along the notorious Wukari–Benue corridor, a route frequently targeted by armed bandits . The victims—Reverend Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel and Obiorah David—were travelling after completing court externships, preparing to resume lectures on Monday, July 28 .
Benue State Police Public Relations Officer Udeme Edet, in a statement issued on Friday morning, August 1, 2025, said: “the students were safely released and reunited with their families on Friday morning, August 1, 2025.” She added, “Police authorities confirmed the rescue, assuring the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.”
