South East senators have praised the Dangote Refinery for its scale and impact, describing it as a major step toward Nigeria’s industrial self-reliance.

The South East Senate Caucus has commended the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Plant in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, describing it as a landmark project that places Nigeria on the global industrial map.

Led by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the lawmakers lauded the federal government’s fiscal policies that encourage local manufacturing and called for continued support for Nigerian entrepreneurs.

Vice President of Dangote Group, Devakumar Edwin, said the company plans to expand the refinery, which currently produces 650,000 litres of petrol daily, to triple its output and boost energy sufficiency.

He said the project proves that “a Nigerian can singlehandedly spearhead an energy revolution.”

Abaribe, visibly impressed, said, “This plant is a pride to not only Nigeria but Africa. It shows that the country’s future is bright.” He pledged the caucus’ commitment to supporting local industrialists through pro-business legislation.
