Sowore insists the action is unjust, pledging continued demonstrations until Raye receives her certificate.
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has vowed to resume protests at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday to demand the release of a withheld discharge certificate for corps member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, known as “Raye.”
“By 9AM tomorrow, we will resume at the Maitama Abuja HQ of the National Youth Service Corps… to receive the Discharge Certificate of Corp Member Ushie Rita Uguamaye ‘Raye,’ who has successfully concluded her compulsory service,” Sowore wrote on X.
Raye alleged that in April 2025, an LGI officer, identified as Veronica, denied her access to complete her biometric clearance despite submitting all required documents. She claimed NYSC later accused her of missing the clearance without giving her a fair hearing.
The NYSC stated her certificate was withheld solely for failing to attend the April biometric clearance, extending her service year by two months under its Bye-Laws.
Sowore, however, insists the action is unjust, pledging continued demonstrations until Raye receives her certificate.
