Despite what police describe as “felony-level” damage, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office opted not to prosecute.

A Minneapolis man was caught on surveillance video vandalizing at least six Tesla vehicles, causing over $20,000 in damages, but will not face criminal charges, city officials confirmed.

Police identified the suspect as Dylan Adams, an employee of the Minnesota Department of Human Services. According to FOX 9, Adams was seen on multiple vehicle cameras damaging Teslas parked along a city street.

Despite what police describe as “felony-level” damage, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office opted not to prosecute.

“This is an approach taken in many property crime cases and helps to ensure the individual keeps their job and can pay restitution,” the office said in a statement.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara expressed frustration: “The MPD did its job… This case impacted at least six different victims and totaled over $20,000 in damages. Any frustration… should be directed solely at [the attorney’s] office.”

Surveillance footage and victim statements were submitted, but prosecutors cited restorative justice considerations in declining charges.
