According to local reports, the man had stored around 3,000 explicit videos and images, with up to 50 possible victims captured in assaults committed either in his taxi or at his residence.

Tokyo police have arrested a 54-year-old former taxi driver suspected of drugging a female passenger with sleeping pills, sexually assaulting her, and illegally filming the attack last year. Authorities found approximately 3,000 explicit videos and images at his residence, with up to 50 potential victims identified in footage dating back to 2008. “Forensic analysis found traces of sleeping pills in the victim’s hair,” a police spokesperson confirmed, adding that the suspect allegedly assaulted women both in his taxi and at his home.

The suspect, taken into custody Wednesday, faces charges of non-consensual sexual intercourse and illicit filming. Police are analyzing the extensive video archive to identify additional victims in what appears to be a 15-year pattern of assaults. While authorities declined to share further details due to the case’s sensitivity, local media reports suggest the man may have systematically targeted vulnerable passengers, raising concerns about broader safety failures in Japan’s taxi industry.
