An 18-year-old, identified as Tega Emajuwa, has been arrested alongside two others for allegedly kidnapping and killing his 12-year-old cousin, Emiliano Egwunbare, for ritual purposes in Edo State.
An 18-year-old boy, identified as Tega Emajuwa, has allegedly kidnapped and murdered his 12-year-old cousin, Emiliano Egwunbare, for ritual purposes in Obagie Community, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, according to Guardian Nigeria reporting.
Emajuwa, who reportedly lived with Emiliano’s parents for several months, allegedly conspired with two friends to abduct the boy and collect ransom from his parents without releasing him.
Police investigations revealed that after the ransom payment, the suspects killed the victim and dumped his body in a well, with some of his organs reportedly harvested.
Deputy spokesperson of the Edo Police Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the arrests of Emajuwa, aged 18, and his accomplices, Edugie Destiny, 20, and Osayande Vincent, 23. “Sadly, during the course of the investigation, the victim’s body was later discovered inside a well in Obagie Community,” she said.
Ikoedem dismissed reports that the suspects had been released, describing them as “false, misleading, and unfounded.”
She added that the suspects were charged in court on October 16, 2025, and remanded for prosecution, with the victim’s mother present during the court proceedings.
