A Pennsylvania teen survived a severe crash after her iPhone automatically called 911, enabling rescuers to save her life.

A Pennsylvania teenager survived a serious crash after her iPhone 14 automatically alerted emergency services, her family said.

Sixteen-year-old Lindsay Leskovac fell asleep while driving in Hadley on August 2 after dropping off a friend, her mother told People. Her truck veered off-road, striking trees and poles before stopping near water. Unconscious, she awoke to the sound of a dispatcher on her phone after the device’s crash detection system dialed 911.

“She was on the phone with them for 22 minutes then, telling them who she was, who we were, who her parents were and they were trying to locate her,” her mother, Laura, said. “They were pinging her location to try to send the rescue workers to her.”

Rescuers said her injuries—including broken femurs, spine, and neck—could have been fatal without the automatic call. “One of the rescue workers told me that she would have died if the phone didn’t call 911,” Laura said.
