Youths in Idogun, Ondo State, allegedly attacked Oba Moses Bakare and his family during the community’s New Yam Festival.
Tension gripped Idogun community in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State after some youths allegedly attacked the Onidogun of Idogun, Oba Moses Bakare, his wife, and their son, Prince Victor Bakare. The incident reportedly occurred at Ishara quarters during the annual New Yam Festival.
Prince Victor, who was visiting his parents, told reporters at the palace that the youths beat him, stripped his mother half-naked, and molested the monarch. He displayed visible injuries and said, “The youths poured urine and other dirty substances on me for reasons best known to them.”
Oba Bakare condemned what he described as recurring hostility from certain youths in the town, calling the latest assault “unfortunate.” He praised the quick response of the police, which prevented the situation from escalating.
The Amotekun Corps Coordinator in the area, Mr. Omatayo Johnson, confirmed that security operatives intervened to avert further unrest. Police Command spokesman Olusola Ayanlade said the incident is under investigation.
