Terrorists have launched another attack in Nigeria’s North-Central region, abducting an unconfirmed number of pupils from Peter’s Foundation Secondary School in Rukubi, Doma LGA of Nasarawa State, in an incident that occurred Friday afternoon, with eyewitnesses reporting that “several children were whisked away” although exact figures remain unknown.
The incident comes only hours after the Niger State Government confirmed that pupils and staff of St. Mary’s School in Papiri were kidnapped during a 2 a.m.–3 a.m. raid, a development described as “deeply distressing and avoidable” by Niger SSG Alh. Abubakar Usman, who stated that “St. Mary’s School proceeded to reopen…without seeking clearance from the State Government.”
Authorities say security agencies have launched full-scale search-and-rescue missions in both states, while recent attacks—including the kidnapping of 25 students in Kebbi and violent assaults in Kwara—have intensified anxiety across northern communities and renewed calls for stronger security measures and adherence to government advisories.
