A Texas woman has been charged with aiding her 13-year-old son’s plot to attack his middle school by purchasing him ammunition and tactical gear, authorities said.
Ashley Rosalinda Pardo, 33, was arrested Monday in San Antonio and charged with aiding in the commission of terrorism. Her son, a student at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School, was also charged with terrorism. Police said he had drawn violent images and shown interest in mass shootings.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Pardo had dismissed concerns from police, school officials, and CPS. “Her behavior is not only dangerous, it’s abhorrent, especially as a parent,” he said.
In May, the boy’s grandmother found ammunition, tactical gear, and an explosive device in his room. She reported Pardo had taken the boy to buy military gear.
Police arrested the boy and Pardo on Monday. The boy remains in custody. Pardo is free on bond and awaits a July 17 hearing.
