Manchester United’s Europa League run has offered brief relief, but Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham highlighted the depth of their domestic decline. With 17 losses in 36 games, Ruben Amorim admits the club has “bigger things to think about” beyond the final in Bilbao.
MANCHESTER WORLD
Manchester United’s Europa League run has masked a torrid Premier League campaign, which hit a new low on Sunday with a 2-0 home defeat to West Ham – their 17th loss in 36 games.
The Red Devils remain focused on the Europa League final against Tottenham on May 21, viewing it as their best route into the Champions League. But their domestic struggles have laid bare deeper issues within the club.
After the loss, Ruben Amorim said: “We are losing the feeling that we are a massive club… If we are not scared of losing a game as Manchester United… it is the most dangerous thing a big club can have.”
United have picked up just 24 points from 25 games since Amorim’s arrival in November. The Portuguese boss warned: “We need to be really strong in the summer and to be brave… If the feeling is still here, we should give the space to different people.”
