Adewole Adebayo praised Tinubu for stabilising Nigeria’s economy but criticised him for failing to address its root problems.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has described President Bola Tinubu as a “well known tax collector.”
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Adebayo said Tinubu’s tax system, though imperfect, marked an improvement over the disorganized structure he inherited.
“Everybody knows that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a well known tax collector. But that tax collection is an improvement over a disorganized system he met on ground,” he said.
Adebayo credited Tinubu with stabilising Nigeria’s fragile economy but faulted him for failing to diagnose the country’s fundamental problems. “What President Tinubu has done is to stabilise the patient, but I’m not sure that he has managed to know the ailment,” he noted, likening the economy to a patient in an emergency ward.
While acknowledging progress in some sectors, Adebayo maintained that critical challenges remain unresolved.
