President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate rescue of 25 kidnapped schoolgirls in Kebbi, deploying Vice President Shettima to the state, while the Chief of Army Staff directed troops to intensify “day and night fighting,” even as the Senate called for the urgent recruitment of 100,000 new military officers to address the nation’s rising security challenges.

President Bola Tinubu expressed profound sadness over the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the death of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno, directing Vice President Shettima to visit Kebbi today to assure parents of the government’s commitment to their quick release, even as he urged communities to “share information and intelligence” crucial to security forces.

Amid the national outrage, Chief of Army Staff Lt General Waidi Shaibu ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to “leave no stone unturned in the ongoing search-and-rescue operation,” demanding they “continue day and night fighting” until the children are found.

Meanwhile, the Senate reacted by asking President Tinubu to immediately order the recruitment of at least 100,000 officers into the military, while international bodies like UNICEF and US lawmakers also condemned the attack, which saw the Vice Principal killed and his wife recount how their daughter narrowly escaped the assailants who dragged her from their home at 3:30 a.m.
