The University of Nigeria, Nsukka has denied issuing a degree certificate to Science and Technology Minister Uche Nnaji, saying he never completed his studies at the institution.
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has disowned the Bachelor of Science degree certificate presented by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Uche Nnaji. The institution said Mr Nnaji did not graduate and was never issued a certificate.
In a 2 October letter to PREMIUM TIMES, Vice Chancellor Simon Ortuanya confirmed that while the minister was admitted in 1981, “we are unable to confirm that Mr Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji… graduated from the University of Nigeria in July 1985, as there are no records of his completion of study.”
He added, “The University of Nigeria, Nsukka DID NOT and consequently, COULD NOT have issued the purported certificate… in July 1985.”
Mr Nnaji, nominated as a minister in 2023, has faced allegations of forgery over both his degree and NYSC certificate. A two-year investigation by PREMIUM TIMES indicates discrepancies in both documents. The minister has yet to respond to enquiries.
