President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Pope Leo XIV, the newly elected head of the Roman Catholic Church.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the election of American Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the 267th Bishop of Rome.
“The President felicitates the Conclave for electing the American Robert Francis Cardinal Prevost,” the statement read. “President Tinubu rejoices with the leadership and congregants of the Catholic Church in Nigeria on the historic election of the new Pontiff.”
He acknowledged the longstanding partnership between Nigeria and the Holy See in areas like peacebuilding, education, and healthcare.
Expressing hope for a more peaceful world, Tinubu prayed God grants the Pope wisdom and strength to spread love and hope globally.
