The Federal Government has announced that the first phase of the Akure-Ita Ogbolu-Iju-Ikere dual carriageway will be completed and commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in December 2025.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Akure, Ondo State Controller of Works, Engr Olajide Hussein, disclosed that Phase 1 of the project spans 15 kilometres and costs N19 billion.

“Phase one covers 15-km single carriageway from Akure to Ekiti State border with some gaps… we expect the contractor to complete these 18 km by December and for President Bola Tinubu to inaugurate it,” Hussein said.

He noted that the ministry’s policy is to construct one lane first to ease traffic before starting the second.

Hussein commended Minister of Works Dave Umahi’s commitment to delivering on time and praised the cooperation of affected property owners in clearing right-of-way obstructions.
