Nigerians are still complaining at the grassroots. To you the Governors, you have to wet the grass small
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday charged governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to strengthen development efforts at the grassroots as citizens continue to express dissatisfaction. “Nigerians are still complaining at the grassroots. To you the Governors, you have to wet the grass small ” Tinubu said during the party’s National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.
He urged the governors to increase direct engagement with local communities and ensure that their programmes reach ordinary people. “You must wet the grass more and deliver progressive change to Nigerians,” he added, stressing that visible results are critical to restoring trust in governance.
Tinubu acknowledged that while economic indicators are stabilising, service delivery and social support at community level remain inadequate. He emphasised that building confidence at the grassroots would solidify the party’s standing.
He called on the governors to sustain reforms and prioritise tangible projects that would directly impact citizens’ welfare, promising continued support from the federal government for all state-led initiatives.
