A University of Abuja professor has alleged that Donald Trump’s recent anger and invasion threat are tied to President Bola Tinubu’s alleged financial support for Kamala Harris’ U.S. presidential campaign.

A political science and international relations professor at the University of Abuja, Abubakar Sadeeque Abba, has claimed that former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent anger and invasion threat toward Nigeria are connected to President Bola Tinubu’s alleged role in funding Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

“To stop Tinubu from becoming president in 2027. I can swear by my Quran. Because Tinubu was among the people who contributed money to give to Kamala Harris for her campaign, and Trump has vengeance, he will never forgive that,” Abba said.

He further alleged that Tinubu, through France and President Emmanuel Macron, mobilised funds for Harris, arguing that Trump viewed the move as a global power challenge.

Abba also identified America’s interest in Nigeria’s oil and energy resources as another key factor. “The American stronghold in the Middle East is slipping away from their fingers. They needed another stronghold of energy resources, oil,” he said.

According to him, Tinubu’s limited alignment with the Western world—maintaining mainly cordial ties with France—was the third reason fueling tensions.

“France and Macron are now depending on Tinubu and Nigerians,” the professor added.
