Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid is “at the final stages” verbally, despite speculation of a U-turn after his match-winning goal against Leicester City.
Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is edging closer to a move to Real Madrid, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Despite speculation following his passionate celebration after scoring the late winner in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Leicester City, Romano clarified the deal is nearly done.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “The agreement between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid is yet to be completed in terms of signing the contract, but verbally is at the final stages.”
Alexander-Arnold, 26, returned from an ankle injury that sidelined him for over a month to net a spectacular left-footed volley just five minutes after coming on in the 71st minute. The goal keeps Liverpool just one win away from their 20th Premier League title.
Having joined the first team in 2016, Alexander-Arnold’s decorated Liverpool career includes two Premier League titles, a Champions League, and several domestic and international trophies. He is expected to leave on a free transfer this summer.
