President Trump says he wants “a real end” to the Iran-Israel conflict, not a ceasefire, warning Tehran and suggesting U.S. retaliation if American troops are targeted.
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he is seeking “a real end” to the conflict between Israel and Iran, not just a ceasefire, as he hinted that his patience with negotiations is wearing thin. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump told reporters, “We’re looking for better than a ceasefire… an end, a real end, not giving up entirely.”
He returned to Washington after cutting short his G7 summit trip and is scheduled to meet with national security officials. While Israel has urged U.S. involvement in strikes against Iranian nuclear sites, Trump has not confirmed any decision.
“I’m not too much in the mood to negotiate,” he added, warning Iran not to target U.S. troops: “We’ll come down so hard, it’d be gloves off.”
Despite earlier reports of a possible diplomatic push, Trump seemed uncertain about resuming talks, saying, “It depends on what happens when I get back.”
On social media, he urged Tehran residents to evacuate, saying, “I just want people to be safe.”
