Trump has departed for Tel Aviv to celebrate the Israel-Hamas peace deal, declaring unprecedented unity across the region.
President Donald Trump departed for Tel Aviv on Monday to mark what he described as a historic breakthrough in securing peace between Israel and Hamas, two years after the October 7, 2023 attacks. Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland before boarding Air Force One, Trump said global celebrations were underway.
“There are 500,000 people, yesterday and today, in Israel and also the Muslim and Arab countries are all cheering,” he declared beneath a wind-battered umbrella. “Everybody’s cheering at one time that’s never happened before.”
Calling his role “an honor,” Trump added, “We’re going to have an amazing time, and it’s going to be something that’s never, never happened before.”
Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, the president is expected to meet families of hostages still recovering from Hamas captivity before delivering remarks to the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
